Mark Speck

Founder

Mark was born and raised in Bend, Oregon. At the age of ten, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. As a competitive athlete, he learned the importance of having successful diabetic management early on. This ultimately helped him as a Division 1 football player at the University of Oregon. He has a Masters in Teaching (MAT) and Business Administration (MBA). Today, Mark uses his Professional Teaching and Administrative License to instruct high school and college level math and business courses in addition to school leadership. One of his passions is connecting with and motivating kids and young adults. In his free time, he loves chasing after his two daughters and getting outdoors with his wife Caitlin.

Mark’s coaching approach has developed from his years in college football and teaching. In these experiences, he has learned effective strategies for educating, motivating, and supporting those living with diabetes. Mark meets with kids, parents, families, adults, and athletes for coaching sessions. Additionally, he provides digital education resources and group programs for people navigating T1D. He also serves on the Board for the non-profit Type 1 Oregon which hosts the T1D Buddy Camp.
